It was the Normans who settled in this place. With Jean de Bethencourt (founder) at the top, they chose this strategic valley, as it was inside the island and was far from the coast and thus was protected from possible pirate attacks. Today it
is still the same valley surrounded by the same Landscape, because it is the island that sets the standard. If we enter the former center of the fighting, nowadays Betancuria it´s shows, as it always was or wanted to be. This place does not bother and is simply idyllic. A village that does not need more to be one of the best treasures of all the Canary Islands.
