Cofete Beach

Cofete Beach, located on the Jandía peninsula in Fuerteventura, is a natural spectacle stretching for about 14 kilometers of fine, golden sand. It is considered one of the wildest and most pristine beaches in the Canary Islands, giving it a unique charm and a sense of isolation.

Access to the beach is a challenge in itself, as it is reached via a dirt and stone road of approximately 8.5 kilometers, for which a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Upon arrival, visitors are rewarded with a breathtaking landscape: an immense beach flanked by the imposing mountains of the Jandía Natural Park, which reach a height of 807 meters at Pico de la Zarza.

Due to its exposed nature, Cofete is known for its strong winds, waves, and currents. Therefore, it is not an ideal place for a leisurely swim, and great caution should be
exercised if you decide to enter the water. However, these same conditions make it an attractive destination for surfers and bodyboarders.

The beach has no services such as lifeguards, bars, or restaurants, which underscores its untamed character. Near the beach, there is a small hamlet with a restaurant and the mysterious Villa Winter, a mansion that has generated numerous legends. An old cemetery and a small islet called Islote de Cofete or Islote de las Siete Viudas are other points of interest in the area.
