La Solana del Matorral Beach

Playa de la Solana del Matorral, located in the south of Fuerteventura, is a vast and spectacular sandy beach stretching for 4 kilometers. It is right next to the town of Morro Jable and is one of the most important natural areas on the island.

The most distinctive feature of this beach is the Saladar de Jandía, a wetland of great ecological value declared a Site of Scientific Interest. It is a unique ecosystem in the Canary Islands, where the tide rises and falls, revealing an immense salt plain that is home to endemic flora and fauna. During low tide, the marsh can be seen full of wading birds and other species.

The beach itself is characterized by its fine, golden sand and its calm waters, ideal for swimming and walks along the shore. At the southern end of the beach, you will find the iconic Morro Jable Lighthouse, a landmark that stands majestically and offers panoramic views of the coast.
