The Grandes Playas de Corralejo are a collection of extensive sandy beaches located within the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, in the north of Fuerteventura. It is not a single beach, but several contiguous beaches that stretch for several kilometers along the coast, creating a spectacular and almost desert-like landscape.
The most notable feature of this place is its impressive white sand dunes, which have an organic origin (formed by the erosion of shells and skeletons of marine organisms) and extend all the way to the sea. The contrast between the white sand, the turquoise waters of the ocean, and the volcano of Lobos Island and the island of Lanzarote on the horizon, creates one of the most iconic postcards of Fuerteventura.
Although the waves are usually moderate, the constant wind makes these beaches a paradise for water sports enthusiasts such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Along the coast, the beaches have different names, such as Playa del Pozo, Playa del Médano, Playa del Viejo, or Playa Bajo Negro, each with its own particularities, although they all share the beauty of the natural environment of the park.
